ROCIA Annual Meeting –
The Red Oak Chamber and Industry Association Annual Meeting was postponed due to the weather until Wednesday, February 6th. Despite another wintery mix of weather, we were pleased with the attendance. It was an evening of introductions, reflection of 2018, informing any changes for 2019, honoring the out going Board President Larry Brandstetter and ending the evening with a Q&A session. This was led by our Exec Committee which allowed our members to ask questions and comment on Chamber related topics. Great questions and wonderful comments were expressed by our members who were in attendance. All in all, it was an informative and enjoyable evening! If you have any questions or comments regarding Chamber related topics, please contact our office anytime! A Membership/Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is being planned for October as another event for our ROCIA Investors and valued volunteers.
Legislative Briefings –
The first Legislative Briefing for 2019 was held on February 2nd at the Montgomery County History Center. Senator Mark Costello, House Representative David Sieck, and House Representative Cecil Dolecheck were in attendance to address 20 area residents. Each spoke about the issues they were currently working on and the committees they serve on. The legislators then answered questions and listened to comments by the public. Thanks to Dave & Roxanne McFarland for allowing the Chamber to host this important event at the Montgomery County History Center. The next legislative briefing is scheduled for 8:00 am on Saturday, March 9th in the meeting room at the Montgomery County History Center. The third legislative briefing will be held during the SW IA Buy Local Expo on Saturday, April 6th at 10 am in the media center of Inman Primary Elementary.
