All they said was “Bach, Bach, Bach…”
After another gloomy day of snow and what appears to be never-ending winter, I needed a good joke and this one did the trick for me – so I hope it puts a smile on your face too.
Let’s get down to brass tacks.
First Annual Ag Appreciation Dinner
This Thursday is the Chamber’s First Annual Ag Appreciation Dinner at 6:00 PM at the Gold Fair Building. It’s important, more than ever, to pay respect to our agricultural roots here in Montgomery County, and to those that continue the tradition of cultivating our fertile soils. This event has been made possible by our generous sponsors: Iowa Corn Growers Association of Mills & Montgomery County, AgriVision Equipment Group, Goranson Seed & Crop Specialists, Red Oak Chrysler, Precision Diesel, Southwest Iowa Tire & Service, United Farmers Cooperative, and many others. Thank you everyone that has RSVPed for the event; this will be a great evening!
Southwest Iowa Buy Local Expo
Come shop, network, and learn at the Southwest Iowa Buy Local Expo next month on Saturday, April 6th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Please note that this year, due to the construction project at the High School campus, the Expo has been moved to Inman Primary. And with that said, I want to reach out and thank the Red Oak Community School District for allowing us to use their facility to make this event a possibility. When you come you can expect 40+ vendors from all over Southwest Iowa, food available for purchase from Subway, giveaways, hourly drawings, shopping, and more! At 10 AM we will have our final Legislative Briefing for the year in the Media Center – so come learn what’s going on at the capitol and even ask our local representatives questions. At Noon, Lori Johnson of Walnut Creek Acres will be presenting “Raised-bed Gardening 101” in the Media Center as well – this will be a great segment to get you ready for Spring planting! If you’re interested in being a vendor we only have a few hallway booths remaining, so contact us quickly!
Junction Days – 150 Years of Red Oak
Mark your calendars to be in Red Oak from Thursday, June 27th to Sunday, June 30th for the 41st Junction Days celebration. Red Oak is celebrating its 150th year, or those who can remember it and pronounce it, its sesquicentennial! We have some big plans this year. Everything from enhancing our Second Annual Shady Tree BBQ Contest to bringing in for the full weekend the Remembering Our Fallen – a traveling national memorial that includes our nation’s Fallen from The War on Terror since 9/11/2001. This national memorial includes over 30 Tribute Towers with military and personal photos of those who have Fallen. Stay tuned for a full schedule of events, but remember to mark your calendars for June 27th to June 30th. Thank you KCSI, Houghton State Bank, Fareway Stores, Inc., Building Crafts, Inc., Johnson Controls, and US Bank for helping us celebrate 150 Years of Red Oak!
